Indecorous Taste was my first introduction into completely impractical fashion which– while I know I would never be able to wear most of these pieces– nonetheless makes my little heart go pitter-patter.
The site shares the creative process of how her pieces come to be, and will leave you breathless with the flawless execution of her concepts. The artist behind these creations is Lauren Tennenbaum, a name which not surprisingly, oozes cool and makes me wish I could track her down and force her to be my friend. (Clearly I sound like a psycho fan-girl, but can I please just follow her around for an afternoon, team up for arts & crafts , and hang on every word? I digress…)
Some of her work is more wearable than others, such as the mink-lined leather high-top trainers. Something I could realistically integrate into my wardrobe of blazers, cardigans and skinny’s. They are a chic, grown-up older sister to those wacky Jeremy Scott Collection Adidas teddy bear sneakers that have been popping up everywhere for I can’t imagine what reason. (even recently spotted on ADR’s instagram!! seriously, why?) While you wouldn’t catch me dead with teddy’s on my toes, I am all for having mink tongues to pet on my trainers. Unique, but without scaring the neighbors.
I couldn’t put it better than Lauren Tennenbaum herself when she called these kicks an “ORGY OF TEXTURES”. Bring it on.
Great news for all of us,–her shop, so you can test out these gems for yourself (including much needed tutorials for how to wear the more mind-boggling pieces). Check out Indecorous Taste here.
