I love the way our sartorial choices can turn a frown upside down and take a day from “meh” to marvelous. I can completely turn my mood around by putting on a fabulous garment, and feel as though that is a rather universal experience. There is no glow like that of a woman who feels confident in what she is wearing.
I have been feeling completely under the weather this past week or so. A sneaking sinus infection had chewed me up and spit me out as my body struggled to fight it off. I found myself gravitating towards uplifting pieces that helped me feel reclaim feeling a touch more fabulous as I fought off my funk. I may be an outlier there, as I know too many people who reach for the sweatpants and T-shirts when they feel bad. Friday at work I threw on my favorite pair of Chloe pumps to help me hold my head high (when all I wanted to do was put my head on my desk and snooze). These gems are a gravity defying pair previously seen in my Case Study in Denim post. They don’t tickle by the end of a work day, honestly what 5″ heels would, but just looking down and seeing those big crepe bows and *BOOM* I am smiling through the head cold (possibly the meds I was on causing hallucinations, but still).
Saturday I spent much of the day in bed snuggled up to a box of tissues, so when I finally sorted my self out to hop in the shower and leave the house for an afternoon pedicure, I instantly gravitated towards uplifting outfit choices. This pair of high-waist black skinny’s is a relatively new addition to my wardrobe. I have been searching for the perfect replacement to my last pair of black jeans after my last pair became tragically too small. This new pair by Lovers + Friends is so good, they create instant glow! The excitement over these bad boys is tangible. A perfect button fly high waist, superb stretch (spandex for days, they could give Spanx a run for the money) and a fit that makes me feel like a million bucks. That is seriously the magic of denim. It can lift your spirits just as much as it can lift your tush!
So I am curious, my dear readers, what lifts you up when you aren’t feeling your best? Comment below!
